How pretty is this Brilliant Wings fancy fold card? Well I’m calling it a fancy fold card but in fact it’s really a fancy closure card!

Sadly, a few of the products I’ve used are retiring soon but if you have them in your craft stash already, or similar items, you can recreate the card.

Fancy Fold Card using the Brilliant Butterfly Dies as a closure

I’d wanted to design a card with this kind of closure for a while and had seen quite a few great examples of ones where the entire card front concealed the opening. This was one of my April Class By Post projects so I had to find a way to use this type of closure whilst still leaving plenty of the crafting to my class ladies. So I came up with the idea to have a partial card front and to use the retiring (sob!) Stitched Shapes Dies for the Butterfly to pop through. Again, sadly the designer series paper I’ve used here sold out very quickly but you could just use a different set for the background.

It’s Not All Retiring!

Thankfully the beautiful Butterfly Brilliance Bundle is carrying over to the new Annual Catalogue launching on 4th May. I’ve only used the Brilliant Wings Dies in this project but you save 10% if you buy the dies and stamp set as a bundle. It’s worth bearing in mind that the stamp set is a background stamp so you’ll need a Stamparatus or Clear Block F. It is possible to cut the stamps to make individual ones but you need to be really careful to ensure it’s a really straight cut. I’m going to do a video soon to show you how to do this.
