So it’s coming up to party season here at Fairy HQ – time to make some cute party bags!
I always try and come up with my own ideas but Stampin’ Up! love people to CASE – copy and share everything. I saw this sweet little bag on the amazing Sam Hammond Donald’s blog and try as I might, I couldn’t get it out of my head! I’ve changed the embellishments but all credit for the bag goes to Sam.
On the long side of a 6″ x 12″ piece of It’s My Party DSP, score at 4″, 5¾”, 9¾” & 11½”. Turn and score at 1¾”, flip the paper over and score at 5″. Fold all of the scorelines except for the one at 5″. Cut out the skinny rectangle in the corner (on the 1¾ scoreline), then cut up the other 3 score lines along that section.
Fold the top section (scored at 5″) back on itself and stick all the way along using tear and tape. This forms the contrasting flap you can see in the photo. Pinch at the top of each scoreline to reinforce the folds now that you have 2 layers of paper. With the reverse side facing upwards, fold over the skinny strip, add Tear & Tape and fold to meet the other edge to form the body of the bag. Fold in the 2 small flaps and one of the bigger ones to start forming the base. Add Tear & Tape to the final flap and stick firmly. Holding the sides of the box between your thumbs and middle fingers, gently push the sides in with your index fingers and pinch the front and back together.
To decorate, stamp Happy Birthday from You’re So Lovely Stamp Set in Melon Mambo and punch out using the Note Tag Punch. Punch out another in Melon Mambo Cardstock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. Sponge around the edges of the sentiment and layer all three using dimensionals. (Top tip – when using dimensionals on Glimmer Paper, add a glue dot on top of it for a stronger bond!) Stamp the stars from the same stamp set onto Whisper White Cardstock and punch out with the super cute balloon punch from the Party Punch Pack. Punch another in Melon Mambo Cardstock and layer using glue dots. Attach them to the top of the note tags and add a Melon Mambo Candy Dot in the bottom corner. Punch through the note tag layers using 1/8″ Circle punch or Crop-a-dile. Thread a length of Melon Mambo 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon through and tie around the base with Silver Metallic Thread. Attach to the bag with 2 glue dots and fill with party treats!
